You can’t hyperfocus a book.

If you have ADHD or experience executive dysfunction for another reason (PTSD, CPTSD, being a new parent, menopause, etc) and are struggling to finish writing projects, you are in the right place.

The first thing you need to know is that you are not the problem. There's nothing wrong with you.

The systems you were taught to use weren't designed for the way your brain works. Relying on neurotypical processes when your brain works differently can produce shame cycles and self-sabotage patterns that interfere with your creative process. This state of stuck-ness is what I call creative despair

Creative despair can manifest in all sorts of ways.

You might feel frozen, unable to create anything new, full of resentment each time you sit down to write. You might be stuck in a cycle of false starts, full of ideas but unable to commit to one project long term. You might be stuck in a revision, reworking the same pages over and over, but unable to figure out what “done” looks like, or how to get there. You might have a book that feels finished, but are too overwhelmed by the publishing industry to even begin to understand how to get it published.

As a writer, editor, and certified book coach, my specialty is helping writers — especially writers with ADHD — with the complex process of writing and revising the story they were meant to write.

I firmly believe the world needs your story, and that you deserve to have the right tools and strategies to share your story with the world.

Let’s work together to overcome creative despair:

Testimonials

“I just wanted to say again that you are magic and you are really fucking good at what you do.

I’d never been able to figure out what the ending was missing and you helped me figure it out. It’s like, ‘Oh yeah! Of course this is what it needs.’ I feel such a sense of relief. I almost made myself cry in the laundromat today lol. I just had to take a second to say thank you again for your help, and I am going to make sure that everyone knows how awesome/magic you are!”

I feel that [Erin] hears me and can see me and the work I'm trying to do and that's rare

… I talk about White Supremacy, systems of domination, and oppression often in my work and these things make people — especially white people — nervous and defensive, but Erin didn't flinch!

She understands my vision, encourages me to not pull any punches when talking about this, and provides me with a safe environment to really work these things out in my writing. THIS IS ANOMALOUS! … I think the moment she started talking to me about FIYAH con and magazine resources was when it was solidified that this was the right coach for me.”

“You understood my ideas without me really having to explain them …

“ … and you were so excited to see this project grow. And I needed that ... Knowing that I have someone who is dedicated to helping me write the book of my dreams and is excited to see where this goes, well, it makes focusing on the work and getting it done just that much easier."
